Woman Join the Assembly
By: Laura K.

“Hey, Athena, come over here,” I said.

“What is it now?” replied Athena.

“You know what? It’s not fair that women don’t get to be part of the assembly. Women are just as equal as men and we could make a difference,” I commented.

“You’re right. We should do something about it,” she replied.

“We should talk more later, Athena. I still have some chores to finish up.” I said.

So I went back to my house and finished telling the slaves what to do. I went to bed that night thinking about women joining the assembly. I had a dream that night that some women fought for their right to join the assembly.

The next day when I talked to Athena, I told her that we should protest for our right to join the assembly.

“Don’t you think that is a good idea?” I questioned.

“You know what, I think you’re crazy!!!!!” exclaimed Athena.

“I’m not crazy. I thought that was a good idea,” I told her.

“Well it’s not. Think of something else to do,” she commanded.

So that night when I finished my work, I lay in bed thinking of what I should do. I thought protesting was a great idea. But maybe I should get a bunch of women and we could take it to court. Bad idea. We could get in big trouble because they might not let women go to court. Maybe we could all stop working and then the men would have to do our work and they wouldn’t want to. We could tell the slaves to stop working too. Yeah, that is a good idea because the men would need to get their food and they won’t live right!!!!!

The next day I told Athena my great idea. She said that might work.
